Select Hole:

18th Hole – “Conishead”

Course Description

The final tee is close to the highest point on the course and offers splendid views. The Old Man of Coniston can be seen in the north, Conishead priory to the east, with Morecambe Bay and Blackpool Tower to the south. This dogleg right requires a good drive with sufficient carry to reach a plateau beyond the marker post. Any shot right of the trees at the edge of the plateau has a good chance of being out of bounds. The second shot is just as difficult to a severely sloping green, with a pair of bunkers on the right, which often gather in the short ball played to the pin.

Pro tip

“Aim your tee shot over the marker post, this will either stay on top of the plateau or feed down the slope making the second shot a great deal shorter. Pitch your second shot just short of the green and let it feed down onto the flat off the putting surface. However don’t be too short as you risk leaving yourself a difficult downhill chip or putt.”
